Tropical Troublestorm
Tropical Troublestorm was a group project I completed in my 3rd Year studying at Abertay. This arcade couch-coop game is a fast-paced competitive multiplayer recreation of Futurlabs ‘Coconut Dodge’. Taking inspiration of the initial game mechanic of traversing mazes of coconuts falling from the sky, we expanded on the original game and added a “Hurricane Mode” which introduced platforms the player can use to scale the height of the game window to collect more treasure and to screw over the opposing crustaceans.
Created in Unity, I was responsible for coding many aspects of this game. Such as, input handling of multiple local controllers, player movement mechanics and importing CSV structured files defining the maze layout. I also programmed many of the visual aspects of the game such as the User Interface, Score Particles and Lighting Changes.
The end result is a frustratingly addictive game to play with friends at a party.
